You're holding a blood test result — a wall of abbreviations. HbA1c, LDL, HDL, TSH, ferritin... This post explains 12 core biomarkers you also see inside NutriWitty.

1. Glucose (Fasting Blood Sugar): 70-99 mg/dL normal, 100-125 prediabetes, 126+ diabetes suspicion. Trend matters more than a single reading.

2. HbA1c (Glycated Hemoglobin): 3-month average blood sugar. <5.7% normal, 5.7-6.4% prediabetes, 6.5%+ diabetes. Doesn't swing weekly — the gold standard for trend.

3. Total Cholesterol: <200 good, 200-239 borderline, 240+ high. Not enough alone — LDL/HDL ratio is what matters.

4. LDL (Bad Cholesterol): <100 optimal, 100-129 good, 130-159 borderline, 160+ high. A cardiovascular risk indicator.

5. HDL (Good Cholesterol): >60 good, 40-59 normal, <40 low. Higher HDL is protective. Exercise and healthy fats raise HDL.

6. Triglycerides: <150 normal, 150-199 borderline, 200+ high. Strongly correlated with excess carbohydrate intake.

7. Hemoglobin: 12-17.5 g/dL normal. Low means anemia (fatigue, shortness of breath). Iron, B12, folate deficiencies are common causes.

8. Ferritin: 20-250 ng/mL normal. Your iron storage. Low = iron deficiency; high = inflammation or liver concern.

9. Vitamin D: >30 ng/mL normal, 20-30 insufficient, <20 deficient. Common in low-sunlight regions — corrected by diet + supplementation.

10. Vitamin B12: 200-900 pg/mL normal. Vegans/vegetarians should monitor closely. Critical for nervous system and energy.

11. TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone): 0.4-4.0 mIU/L normal. High = hypothyroidism, low = hyperthyroidism. Sets metabolic rate.

12. Creatinine: 0.7-1.3 mg/dL normal. A kidney function marker. Naturally slightly higher in muscular people.

Once you upload a test in NutriWitty: AI reads values, dietitian approves, a trend chart is drawn, abnormal values feed targeted recommendations into your plan. One test isn't enough — at least 2 measurements are recommended for trend tracking.
